Not always cheaper than Trader Joes

As I bought a searched for item --- at Trader Joes, before I later went to search for the same sub-categorized item at Sprouts. I expected Trader Joes to be more expensive, (a) as I had to look at some items at Trader Joes that Sprouts not have [generic items], (b) as TJ having the higher pricing vs Sprouts being the norm, (c) starting from the higher and going to the lower price is more easy to me. So when I came home, I searched the internet of Sprouts: the item was found, but of a higher price. It is the norm that Trader Joes is a higher reputed business in its quality of: (aa) customer service, (bb) quality of products: THIS SENTENCE speaking of (aa) &; (bb) not apply in chronological behavior, depending on store to store. I bring this for the reason in how Sprouts further expects to keep (me) as a customer. ADD that "Sprouts" website has not email format for me to send such a message: as online email addresses are reliable for sending a 'message.' Hence that customers having a copy for the customer's file; as the business likes to claim of not receiving the message.

I later found an update that by my going to a Trader Joes: when items, I had been looking for, I had not seen on the shelf. As they were on the shelf, on my last visit here.

Vs. the current visit: still showing shelf labels to the items I been searching for --- that verifies the items as current items. As these out of stock items, I wanted to purchase a replacement; and it took time/effort to find an employee at a store like Trader Joes, during this pandemic time. Once I found an employee, the first such person was of the opposite sex.

But during the chat, as the context of the chat became detailed in the products. Eventually, a higher level person walked into the area (?coinc?) He 'broke into' the chat, immediately knew what the chat was about. I wonder how (sic) Then why were no such upper/intermediate personnel NOT AROUND, when I/customer needed them, at the time.

As Trader Joes is like driving on the road, in a neighborhood of upper-attituded society: too many cars with too much traffic. The Trader Joes upper person broke into the chat as if I was intruding the life of the Trader Joes employee.

Yesterday I was shopping in HB CA 92649 store off Goldenwest &;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; Warner with my wife. I don't wear a mask for health / Religious beliefs. I was offered a mask by John a worker. I refused the offer. Then I was told I would not be allowed to check out and pay for my groceries without a mask. Again Im exempted from wearing a mask but my wife who had a mask on was denied service by the store manager whom FAILED TO ID HERSELF and turned her name tag around when asked for her name and employee number. ALL on VIDEO. Your store manager then proceeded to shut down the check out line my wife was in with a mask my wife doesn't have the same issues as I do with the mask. Your store manager refused to give me her name then on video she saying she hopes she gets fired to SPROUTS will pay her unemployment and Id being doing her a favor. ALL ON VIDEO This is YOUR STORE MANAGER saying she wants to be fired. CRAZY. Anyhow our CA civil code 50,51 (a), (b), BIG VIOLATIONS of CA LAW all on video. The manager of your store in HB CA 92649 and employee John denied service. I HAVE A VIDEO TO LARGE TO UPLOAD. IM PRETTY SURE UPPER MANAGEMENT WILL WANT TO REVIEW THIS.

Refused entry for no mask

I told your sprouts guard I could not wear a mask for health reasons. He said I could not enter and would have to do online order and pick up.

Why, I ask, is a mask required, even if they do work?

If you are one of the 1 to 2% who even catch covid you have a 99.6% chance of living! You have a greater chance of being hit by a car than you do of dying by covid. You have lost all rational thinking.

Oh, you say you are going by CDC guidelines? Really?

From which day? In March and April they said not to wear masks. Why are you now going with the flow? There is no science, real science, that shows any benefit to wearing them.

In fact, studies on nurses have shown that those who wore masks were more likely to get URIs than those who didn't. Stop listening to CNN, CDC, MSNBC, Fauci and the like. Question everything and think for yourself.

Furthermore, you have no right to refuse entry and are in direct violation of ADA laws. Also, you are breaking OSHA rules by requiring your employees to be masked.

Wait till one of them wakes up to that!

You are NOT a health food store when you require people to wear unhealthy face coverings. You are not interested in health when you fan the fear. You are not promoting health when you bully people.

I used to spend thousands at your store every year. No more.

You are working hand in glove with those who want to turn us into a marxist state. Think about it carefully. If you usher in communism you will no longer exist. Choices disappear, food becomes scarce.

You are a little guy and won't be on the list of survivors.

It's time for you to take a stand against those who erode our constitution and return freedom to the people. If the fraction of a percent who are most at risk are fearful then they can stay home. Simply post signs at the door announcing that people must take responsibility for their own health.

If they feel at risk then THEY can order online and do pick up. The rest of us want to live in a free world.

End the tyranny!

Heather Phillips.

Wrong. If they are open to the public they absolutely have to abide by ADA rules.

They can not discriminate. They are not an exclusive private club where people pay dues.

Unlawful mistreatment of those medically exempt from wearing a Mask

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I live just a few miles away from Sprouts and have been shopping there exclusively, for roughly 6 years, spending several hundreds of dollars weekly. Since your new unlawful MASK rule, I have NOT been back. Your store in Westwood, CA and your stores all over California are violating Civil Code: 51, as well as your OWN Code of Ethics on your website. It is UNLAWFUL to restrict someone who CANNOT wear a mask, from freely shopping in your store. Do you also realize how many people cannot afford to pay for delivery, or who don't have access or the ability to order online? Do you realize that it is unlawful discrimination to NOT allow all people to freely shop in your store? I have witnessed elderly people, who already cannot breathe well, let alone walk comfortably, get harassed because they pulled their mask down, under their nose, to actually be able to breathe for a second! Walmart has already stepped back their inhumane mask policy and it is time for Sprouts to join the RIGHT side of the law.

There are numerous valid reasons why thousands of people literally CANNOT wear a mask:

ADHD

Agoraphobia

Anxiety

Asthma

Chronic Sinus Issues

Claustrophobia Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS)

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Depression /other mental health

Deviated Septum

Down Syndrome

Dysautonomia

Emphysema

Epilepsy

Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)

Hyperhydrosis

Hypoxia

Lung Cancer Lung Disease and other assorted issues

Multiple Sclerosis Panic Attack / Panic Disorders

Pleurisy

Post-Partum Anxiety (PPA)

Post-Partum Depression (PPD)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Pulmonary Embolism

Raynaud's Syndrome

Reflex Neurovascular Disorder/disease

Sensory Processing Disorder

Vertigo

I implore you to rethink this policy or AT LEAST offer Mask-Free shopping hours. If you need details as to the MANY ways Sprouts is violating laws and freedoms, please watch this video, especially made for SPROUTS.

Harassed and mocked

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I do not wear a mask due to my religious beliefs and under the California civil Law, I have the right to shop inside your store without being harassed or intimidated for not wearing one. A store can not make a policy that violates established law and your manager in Lincoln Ca Sprouts Store approached me (luckily after my purchase was complete) and said I could not shop in the store without a mask.

I told her me/my religious beliefs for not wearing a mask, can not be discriminated against according to Civil law (codes 42 and 51).

She laughed and said she had not heard that one and I said she should look up that law as it hold a hearty fine for discrimination against me.

I was already walking out she said next time wear a mask.

A month before I was not harassed and was let alone to shop in your store without a mask, but almost overnight, this unlawful policy has become a unlawful witch hunt for those whom do not wear a mask.

I will be back but without a mask and I'm hoping you see this policy is not a law but is breaking laws and I hope you fix it before many lawsuits are brought against your store and the people working there.

As. I have been a loyal customer for a while, and I spend a lot of my hard-earned money in your store.

Non mask shopping time!

Dear Sprouts (Aka my favorite grocery store),

Your business has the chance to be a LEADER in the retail industry by offering this:

"Special shopping hours for those without a mask."

At the beginning of this situation, many retailers had special shopping hours for seniors and disabled.

Its time for you to PROVIDE THIS RIGHT AWAY:

SPECIAL SHOPPING HOURS FOR THOSE WITHOUT A MASK

Curbside shopping or instacart delivery is not fair and equal access, because there is an additional cost, and shoppers cannot browse and look for new items and experience an enjoyable shopping experience.

Further, this discriminates against those who do not have access to technology.

Offering SPECIAL SHOPPING HOURS for those who cannot wear a mask creates REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS (as required by federal, state and local laws).

NOTE: These hours are to be reserved for mask-free shoppers ONLY, so the shopping experience will be relaxing and enjoyable. Those who wear a mask are to shop during the mask hours.

BENEFITS for YOUR BUSINESS:

YOU will be recognized as a powerful community leader in creating a fair, just and equitable shopping experience for all your patrons in this way:

1.

Shoppers who cant wear a mask can shop in comfort and confidence free of discrimination, harassment and intimidation (which violate federal and state civil rights laws)

2. Associates will not need to spend time checking to see if shoppers need to wear a mask

3. Further, ASSOCIATES who cannot wear a mask could be assigned to work those hours.

4.

This demonstrates YOUR commitment to your ETHICS and COMPLIANCE for NON-DISCRIMINATION policies.

5. Your business can avoid costly and embarrassing discrimination lawsuits

I look forward to an enjoyable mask-free shopping experience!

Sincerely,

Hayli :-)

Thank you for doing this so I can enjoy shopping again!!

A reasonable request is for you to just wear a mask and quit acting like an infant. How dare you selfish people put the lives, health and wellbeing of those team member working at sprouts to make those essential groceries available to you. you are NOT thinking of everyone, Only yourselves and it's very disturbing!

Maddux Vpt

Three cheers for Hayli. How could they possibly argue with your reasonable requests.

Thank you for speaking for many of us who feel the same way. At this point everything that the policy makers for Sprouts stores need to know has been politely pointed out to them. They are in the wrong and I am expecting that we will soon hear from them with positive news.

We all want what's best for everyone and staying within the law is paramount, I would think, for their company. Peggy Amaral

Harassed, Intimated, Discriminated Against and Trespassed from Sprouts

This morning I tried to peacefully enter Sprouts in Brentwood, CA, expecting free and equal access, regardless of my religious beliefs or medical condition (as protected under California Civil Code 51.7 and 51(b) - applicable to any business establishment of every kind whatsoever) as I had in the past many times. I was, however, held at the door by an employee who said it was company policy that I must wear a mask.

I explained that I am exempt due to my medical condition and religious beliefs and I offered to show him all the legal documentation supporting those exemptions. He refused to look at the paperwork and said he would have to get the manager if I did not put on a mask. I said I would wait outside to speak to him. The manager, Isaac, came out and I explained the same to him what I had said to the employee at the door.

He also refused to look at the documentation and discriminated against me because of my medical condition and religious beliefs (to not take his medical advice to wear a mask) by barring my entry. I calmly explained to them it was a violation of my civil rights (both on a federal and state level) to not give me free and equal access to their store, free from harassment or intimidation, but they still refused my entry. I then said I would have to call the police to report a crime in process. Isaac then said he would be calling as well.

The police arrived and explained I could sue Issac for violating my civil rights but would not do anything more to my aid. Issac offered curbside assistance to me but since that would deny me the freedom to browse the store like any other individual, I said I want to be treated equal and have free access to shop like everyone else. He then had the police trespass me from the store.

This type of criminal behavior is unacceptable and must be stopped!

People who cannot wear a mask for medical, psychological or religious reasons by law must not be intimidated, harassed or discriminated against! There has to be allowance made for those who don't wear a face covering to have free access to their store.

"I said I want to be treated equal" You ARE being treated equally. Everyone is required to wear a mask in the store.

Are you one of the ones who say that if you don't like the way a company treats its customers you should stop whining and not shop there? I guess it's different when YOU are the one being offended.

Jeremy W Vhf
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-1907694

Everyone is NOT "required" to wear a face covering. There is NO law that requires anyone to wear a mask, only (ill-)suggested guidelines.

And in those guidelines there are (wisely included) exemptions spelled out for those who have difficulty breathing while wearing a face covering. California and federal law protects those civil rights of everyone to be free from discrimination based on their medical condition as well as their religion in such establishments. Sprouts is breaking the law by practicing medicine without a license and commiting deprivation of rights under the color of law. I am one who is interested companies being held accountable for their criminal actions and want everyone's personal rights respected.

If you want to wear a mask, have at it.

But for me, it's my body so it's my choice! And I won't be treated second class for it.

Medical exemption mask wearing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was in the Temecula, CA store today and before i could even walk into the store, a female employee shouted at me from the parking lot to put on a mask. Then i walked 10 feet into the store and was approached by a male employee that asked if i had a mask.

I said yes, i do, but i am medically exempt. I then walked another 20 feet and was contacted by the vitamin dept. manager telling me to put on a mask. I told her i was M.E.

and she said, you have to wear a mask anyway. I asked to speak to the store manager who told me that it doesn't matter if i'm M.E. or not. I had to wear a mask or I had to leave.

So, according to the ADA, I am not allowed to be discriminated against. Right? I asked, do you treat all of your disabled/handicapped customers like this? He said no.So, if you have a Medical Exemption, Sprout's does not want you in their stores and will refuse service to you.

Ok. Got it.

(1)It seems you're under the FALSE impression that you would only be risking your own health by not wearing a mask. In FACT, it's to protect the public, AND THE EMPLOYEES from asymptomatic people spreading Covid-19 before they even realize they have it.

So, for argument's sake, say you had Covid-19 -but you don't know yet. If you go out shopping, with a mask on, a high percentage of the airborne particles you expel (via breathing and talking) are going to get trapped on the inside of your mask. As opposed to making it into the air around you; Where it most likely to infect others. (2) I'm elderly and have COPD.

A mask is uncomfortable, but it does not interfere with my oxygen machine at all. Everyone who's healthy enough to make it all the way to the store CAN wear a mask, they just don't want to.

(3)It's NOT hard to wear a mask! It IS hard to lose a loved one to a PREVENTABLE disease, where the family can't even be permitted access to the dying person while they suffer, and pass away.

Employee harassment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Updated by user Dec 21, 2020

Over a month later, and still no response from corporate or customer service. I had to call the store directly to follow up and they still have not replied either. Very disgusted with the lack of concern and absolutely NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

Original review Nov 20, 2020
Nick, a horribly rude employee at your Granada Hills store in California continually harassed me and made me feel unsafe shopping there ever again. I spoke to the manager at the door and she said she would speak with him.

Toward the end of my shopping- he was harassing me through the aisles and almost hit me with his cart. And I asked him repeatedly to stop talking to me and he continued to the point where another worker took me over to her register to help and I stayed behind- until he left- for fear of my safety. Ive left the entire story with the manager m, customer service, and corporate offices hoping for some resolve ASAP. Ive shopped at Sprouts for several years and never had this type of situation before.

It is sad and disheartening, to say the least. Sprouts should not allow this type of employee behavior.

Awful products, disgusting food displays

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We visited the Winter Park Sprouts today for a mid week shop, we have been aware of the company's decline in product quality for some time now but thought to give it a try as we were passing. Terrible experience, firstly, the vegetables, disgusting, leeks black and enormous with damaged root.

Carrots slimy, broccoli brown and black not green and vibrant. We bought what looked like a nice handful of asparagus (packaged) as the open asparagus was man handled and rotting. We advised the server who had been with the company some 7 months, she replied with sorry about that.

We got home and my wife opened them, absolutely disgusting, rotted centers, we salvaged 7 pieces of 20. This has been carrying on for far too long now, my advice to any farmers supplying them would be get out asap, this company does not care about product only profit.

FYI, the server advised that they had not received the days delivery, so they are well aware of the disgusting alleged fresh produce they are selling.
